There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the death of the Pakistan cricket coach, Bob Woolmer.
He was found dead in his hotel room on Sunday morning and since then a full scale investigation has been launched by police into the circumstances which lead to his death.
An autopsy that was recently conducted proved to be inconclusive and additional tests are being done to determine the cause of death. According to an article in yesterday's STAR, it was suggested that he might have been strangled.
According to that story, a senior police officer confirmed that the 58-year-old was found half naked in his room, partially wrapped in a towel. A bone in the neck was also broken.
The police intend to bring in a pathologist from aboard to assist with investigations. Firstly it is quite unfortunate that Mr. Woolmer died here in the height of the international cricket competition.
It is obvious that this death has only placed Jamaica and our investigative capabilities under scrutiny as the world watches to see if we will find the true cause of death.
Most certainly, what killed the coach will be matter that the police will determine. How will Jamaica's image be affected also remains to be seen as the investigations continue.
We are hopeful however, that the Jamaican police will successfully conclude their investigations and secure a conviction in a timely manner while sparing the country any negative publicity that will only damage our already tarnished image.
