Politicians on the prowl

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Once again, the hustings is on in anticipation of an early general election.

And it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that there is going to be bloodletting between supporters of the two major political parties, the PNP and the JLP, because our politicians are behaving like hungry mongooses hunting chickens, instead of presenting themselves with some measure of civility.

I am foretelling this because it's transparent from my standpoint that the platitudes and innuendoes that are passing between the representatives of these two cults are spilling over on to their loyal supporters, who don't understand the saying 'It's better to be a live dog than a dead lion'. So now it's obvious we all are hiding in dog's skin, for we all seem to be behaving like dogs running with the pack, losing our identity.

Here are some quotations from a song by one of our Jamaican singers for our politicians to reminisce. "Can't build no dreams upon fuss and a fight .... And as we fight one another for the power and the glory, Jah Kingdom goes to waste, and every drop of blood we take, a fi wi own disgrace."

Eh, eh, it's a thing, Nuh care how hogs try fi hide under sheep's wool, them grunts always betray them.

I am, etc.,
