From all around Franklyn Town, community revellers made their way along Lacy and Hare roads to meet at the T-junction at Mack 11 corner to party until sunlight on Saturday.
London Street Fest, their yearly party, was buzzing all night and it seems everybody came out to witness the event. Anyone who got there before 2 a.m. were simply too early and might have been discouraged by what they saw.
But that was not a correct preview of what was to come. By around 3 a.m. the ladies started to turn out in abundance. The fashion was literally blocking traffic as all the women had obviously put a lot of effort into looking as trendy as they could. Tyra Banks had nothing on them, they must have thought.
The good, the bad and the indifferent were on display since some came showing body parts that has no business being exposed, and there were those who were just too hot to handle. Not much dancing was taking place, neither was the music really swinging at this point.
As the night went by, progressive steps were being made to the centre of the intersection and it was obvious the hour was approaching when intoxication and competition would take over. It seems that the more they drank, the more likely they were to enjoy the music. Foota Hype and Hotta Ball took turns at the selectors quarters and were really giving the people what they wanted.
Around 4 a.m. the dancehall music began before there was a slight interruption of fresh acts trying to continue the vibes with live performances, but that didn't quite work. Not even Mr. Lexx was enough to the rile up the supporters as much as they were when the selectors were playing.
Foota Hype, Hotta Ball and Patta Vibes' job of selecting became an easy one since people were just dancing to anything they played. This was especially so when they played songs like Hot Wuk, Dutty Wine, Tek Weh Yuself and the Raging Bull.
The skies began to light up signalling morning had arrived but still the party continued. It was not until minutes to eight when a police patrol came along that the party came to a halt. By this time, almost everyone was soaked with liquor in and out. When the supporters had apparently had too much to drink, they started using Guinness and other liquids to douse just about everybody.
In fear of getting wet, and because the party had obviously come to an end, many, including THE STAR team, left.
