"The long arm of the law reached out and touched you," RM Judith Pusey told Morris Holness recently before sen-tencing him to three months in prison for forgery and uttering false documents in the Cor-porate Area Resident Mag-istrate's Court.
Holness recently submitted an expired passport bearing a false name and a visa for renewal at the passport office, where he was arrested.
Holness reported to police that he was at odds with the now-deceased Donovan 'Bulby' Bennett, the once-notorious leader of the Clansman gang in Spanish Town, and needed to flee for his life.
He said in 2005 he was shot after being robbed. The incident left him in need of surgery, which along with other medical expenses added up to US$9,000 (approximately J$612,000).
Before passing sentence, RM Pusey asked to view the document and found that Holness had the document in his possession since 1999, and used it quite frequently.
