An elderly woman was killed during a confrontation with a man in Hanover on Saturday.
Mavis Davis, 83, of Flamstead, Hanover, was killed about 11 a.m. during a dispute between her and a man believed to be of unsound mind. Davis was hit in the head with a piece of iron and pronounced dead at the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital, while the man was arrested.
In St. Catherine, two unidentified men were killed. The first, thought to be about 55, was killed on Angel Avenue, Spanish Town, after residents reported hearing explosions about 8:15 p.m. Police later discovered the body.
The Bureau of Special Investigations (BSI) is probing the death of the other, killed during an alleged gunbattle with the police. The incident occurred in Edge Hill, Hellshire, about 10:05 p.m. Reports say a police party went into the area where shots were being fired. A man was seen leaving a residence on Edge Hill Boulevard and when approached, he alegedly pulled a gun and opened fire. Fire was returned, hitting him. A Colt 9 mm pistol was recovered.
