Bus driver injures cops after receiving ticket

spanish town

Three police officers were injured on Wednesday after they were hit by an irate bus operator who they had earlier ticketed for breaches of the Road Traffic Act.

The incident that left the two males and female officer nursing injuries took place about 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday along the busy Burke Road in Spanish Town.

Reports are that the lawmen observed a coaster bus picking up passengers near the LOJ Shopping Centre and issued the driver with a ticket for picking up at a place other than a bus stop.

It is alleged that the bus drove off and stopped further along the road to pick up more passengers. The police were going in their direction to issue another ticket when the conductor allegedly said "Kill off dem p....h...." The driver then sped off hitting the woman constable and her colleagues on the ground.

Efforts to catch the speeding coaster bus were unsuccessful. The police are now hunting for both the driver and the conductor to issue additional charges.
