Labourer appears in court on murder charge

A man accused of murdering another man when he attempted to intervene in a dispute, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Oniel Hall, a labourer of a Dill Path Crescent, Kingston 11 address, is charged with wounding with intent and murder.

The allegations are that on March 17, at about 8:00 a.m., the accused was in the process of dropping off sand along Dill Path Crescent, when the complainant, Rohan Archibald went to speak with him. An argument developed between the two and the accused reportedly brandished a knife and stabbed the complainant, who fell to the ground. It is further alleged that the accused knelt over Archibald and continued stabbing him while he was on the ground. He received injuries to his abdomen and both arms.

The now deceased, Kevin Morrison, intervened in the tussle and while he was in the process of parting the men, the accused reportedly stabbed him in the neck, before escaping in the area.

Both injured men were taken to hospital, where Morrison was pronounced dead on arrival. Archibald was admitted in serious but stable condition. The accused gave himself up to the police a day later.

He is to return to court on April 20.
