SPALDINGS, CLARENDON:
Rayon and Ryan Levy of Sandy Bay in Clarendon were born at the Spanish Town Hospital in St. Catherine on July 15, 1997. The boys are identical twins and the children of Sandra Cohen and Jeff Levy. They are both in Grade 4 at the Green Park Primary and Junior High School in Clarendon.
Rayon told THE STAR that he was first to be born, but could not tell the time period between their birth. They also said that although they are very close as brothers, they have never been in the same class since attending school.
"I would have liked to be in the same class with Ryan because we are twins and I believe that twins should keep each others company," said Rayon with a broad smile.
Ryan had similar views. The boys said they are hardly out of each others company and wants it to remain that way.
They added that unlike some twins who get into fights with each other occasionally, they have never fought, as they don't believe that brothers should fight. They said they loved each other and would not like fighting to separate them.
Ryan occasionally refers to his twin brother Rayon as 'Bigger', because he is slightly thicker than he is. He said Rayon is very protective of him and always tries to protect him if he is involved in a squabble with others. Rayon said he protected his brother because he disliked when other persons picked on him.
The two boys share similar favourites. For sports they love cricket, but as a second choice Rayon loves football while Ryan loves basketball. Their choice of food is the same. They both love rice and peas and chicken.
They like going to church but do not like when Sunday school goes on for too long. The boys said they love hearing about Jesus and that they want to be Christians soon. The twins added that they are very active in their class because they want to learn all they can from their teachers.
They told THE STAR that persons in and out of their school have difficulties differentiating them. However, according to the two who are referred to as two little troubles by a friend at their school, persons who spend time with them can tell them apart by looking for distinguishing marks. Ryan has a mole close to his left ear, while Rayon has a small scar on his forehead.
Rayon who smiles a lot said he wants to be a teacher when he finishes school and that his love for teaching has come out of the good qualities seen in his class teacher Janet Simms. He described his teacher as a caring, loving, patient and adorable individual. As for Ryan, he also wants to be in the teaching profession and his reason for this has come out of the good qualities seen in his teacher Mrs. Isolene Ramsook-Weir.
