Witnesses wanted

The Bureau of Special Inves-tigation (BSI) is seeking the witnesses who saw the incident involving a man who was shot dead by a police officer on Hagley Park Road last Saturday.

On March 31, 38-year-old Trevor Anderson was fatally shot under controversial circumstances.

Police reports are that at 5:45 p.m. , a police patrol was on Hagley Road when a Toyota Corolla motor car was seen obstructing traffic. While at the location, the driver came, jumped into the vehicle and drove off hitting a member of the police party.

The vehicle was allegedly advancing towards the officer who was on the ground when he opened fire and Anderson was hit. The car subsequently crashed into a utility pole. Both injured persons were taken to the hospital where Anderson was pronounced dead and the policeman treated.

Persons with information pertaining to the incident are being asked to contact the Half Way Tree Police at 926-2551 or 906-3119 and BSI at 922-7277 or 967-4988.
