Aqua, Port Royal battle for final berth

Aqua Youths and Port Royal Bulls will be vying for a place in the final of the NPG Southern Conference Basketball Competition when they meet in the deciding game of the best-of-three semi-final series this evening.

The game begins at 6:30 p.m. at the UWI Indoor Courts.

Aqua levelled the series 1-1 on Tuesday after Damion Sullivan put in a 23-point performance to guide them to a 59-52 win. Derron Jackson chipped in with 15 points.

Demetrius Wade and Paul Brown, who both had big games to give Port Royal the advantage in the first game on Sunday, again led their team in scoring. Wade had 13 points while Brown collected 12 points, 13 rebounds and eight blocks.

An impressive looking Jamaica Defence Force became the first finalist on Tuesday when they beat Selassie Gardens 56-45 to win their series 2-0. Fuertado Clarke led the soldiers with nine points and 13 rebounds while Ricardo Willis scored 15 points for Selassie Gardens.

The final begins this Sunday at the UWI Indoor Courts with game two scheduled for Tuesday and game three, if necessary, on Thursday.
