After 'British Link-Up: The Rebirth' had gone through the roots of Natural Black's 'Far From Reality' at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday morning and trod on the 'Road to Zion' with Jnr. Gong nearly an hour later, even when the sun had come up those gathered at La Roose were not in a mood to watch performances.
Coming on stage at the Port Henderson Road, Portmore venue at 7 a.m. with a 'zagga' to almost no response, billed special performer Beenie Man went into "you get me mad", then made the sign of a cross across his chest, looked to the sky and said "SelassieI" after someone shouted in his ear twice. He alternated with Matterhorn for Red Red Red and Goodas respectively. When Macka Diamond delved into the Beenie Man, D'Angel and Bounty Killer saga with "big up Angel she have a plan/she lef' from one money man to a nex one" there was a roar from the audience of the expensively dressed which occupied most of the lower level of La Roose.
And there was another 'forward' when Diamond deejayed "me a go want some a da money deh too, so Bounty mek we married too". There was no visible reaction from Bounty Killer, who was close to the back of the venue.
D'Angel declared herself "a downtown girl living an uptown life" without much response` but when another deejay went into dancehall's most noted sex, ex and vex saga again there was a 'forward'.
