Police in St. James have launched investigations into the murders of three persons who were killed in separate incidents on the weekend.
Dead are Gary McLeod, 28 also known as "Butter" a taxi operator of Endeavour Crescent of Albion, Omar Stephenson, 19, of Sammy Bush and Ricardo Spence, 23 of Piggott Street, Mount Salem.
Stephenson's body was found with gunshot wounds in Norwood, St. James on Saturday morning after residents heard gunshots being fired.
According to police reports at 8 p.m. on Friday, residents heard explosions in an area known as Sammy Bush. At 6 a.m., Stephenson's body was seen on a dirt track with gunshot wounds. The police were called and the body removed to the morgue for post-mortem.
Nightclub stabbing
The police are also looking into the stabbing death of Spence at a nightclub on Saturday morning. Reports from the police are that at 1:30 am, he was at the nightclub when an argument developed between him and two other men.
During the altercation, a knife was used to stab Spence. The police were summoned and he was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he died while being treated.
McLeod was also pronounced dead at hospital after he was shot dead. According to police, at 9:20 p.m. on Saturday explosions were heard on Endeavour Crescent and the police were summoned. When the police arrived, McLeod was seen slumped over the steering wheel of the motor car suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
