A man who was caught with a motor vehicle, for which no proper documentation can be located, was granted bail in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
Twenty-seven-year-old Marlon Kerr of Darliston in Westmoreland, who is answering charges of unlawful possession of property and fraudulent use of a licence plate, was offered bail in the sum of $50,000.
He was also ordered to report to the Darliston Police Station on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Kerr pleaded guilty to the charge in relation to the licence plate.
He drew laughter of the court when he responded to RM Winsome Henry's questions as to whether he had documents for the motor vehicle.
"Just the false paper dem," he answered.
Allegations are that the police were carrying out spot checks along Kent Avenue in Montego Bay on April 14 when Kerr drove up.
The police allege that he behaved suspiciously when asked to produce the documents for the vehicle. An inspection of the papers revealed that the licence plate belonged to another vehicle. He told the police that he bought the vehicle and collected it at the (port) wharf .
But Kerr told the court that he bought the vehicle some six months ago. Further investigations will be carried out, as other charges are pending against him.
He is scheduled to return to court on May 11.
