The Minister will be hard to beat

by Jimmie, Star Racing Writer

THE MINISTER ran an encouraging race at 1700 metres last time out, beaten seven and a half-lengths fourth behind SOY MUJER, and should go all the way in tomorrow afternoon's seventh event, Race Four of the CTL Claiming Series over 1400 metres.

Partnered by Carlton Malcolm, THE MINISTER disputed the lead with MEDICAL ACCOUNT last time out before taking charge into the lane.

However, SOY MUJER made a sharp move down along the rail to sweep past THE MINISTER a furlong and a half out.

THE MINISTER was still second with a furlong to run and only lost his position close home as second past the post, SIR KNIGHT, finished second by six lengths.

With the short-running RISING MOON being the only recognised speed in tomorrow's race, THE MINISTER should press the pace before taking over off the home turn from where he will be hard to peg back.

Pick-6 at $500,000

There'll be no Pick-9 on tomorrow's card as there are only seven races on the programme but the Super-6 will be back at its minimum guarantee of $500,000.

There were six winning Pick-9 tickets last Saturday, each picking up $166,666.50 whereas the Super-6 paid out $6,687.50 to 197 winning tickets.

Tomorrow's Super-6 starts at the third race in which Richie Todd's MAN OF HONOR, administered lasix for the first time, seems to be the horse to beat.

MAN OF HONOR ran prominently in his last two races before weakening and should get the better of his six rivals at 1000 metres straight.

TIME OF MY LIFE should go all the way in the fourth at 1100 metres, LAWS OF LUVVE looks set to outstay older maidens at a mile in the fifth and SIR KISSON LAL gets the nod to pull off a quick double in the sixth at 1700 metres.

Too far

Down in class TIME OF MY LIFE will have to be caught after venturing too far last time out, beaten over 1300 metres. However, he was still second behind SATISFIER with a furlong to run, allowing the in-form middle-distance runner weight to boot.

LAWS OF LUVVE should be the first of two winners for trainer Morris Powell. She was only beaten by RED OCTOBER at 1500 metres on April 9 and should go one better with an extra furlong to run.

SIR KISSON LAL ran a strong race two Saturday's ago, chasing MICHAEL POWER and staving off the late rush of SIR MOHANDAS BABA at 1820 metres.

Powell's RUSH TO VICTORY should bring down the curtains at 1300 metres following his fair effort, third behind GRANDPA'S DREAM at 1400 metres on April 7.
