Two killed in separate incidents

Two persons, one in St.Elizabeth and the other in Manchester, were killed between Tuesday night and yesterday morning.

Hubert Pryce, a 56-year-old fish vendor was killed at his home in Friendship District, Santa Cruz, on Tuesday night.

Reports are that at about 7:50 p.m., two men went to Pryce's home under the pretence that they were purchasing fish. He was in the process of attending to them, when one of the men used a knife to stab him several times. The other man then pulled a gun and opened fire, hitting him. The police were called and he was taken to the Black River Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Over in Manchester, 35-year-old Everton Blake, also known as 'Toy' and 'Assad', of Nevermind District, was shot dead yesterday morning. The incident occurred in Strawn District, Christiana.

Reports are that at about 3:15 a.m., members of a police party saw three men coming out of a shop in the community. The men were challenged and they reportedly pulled guns and opened fire at the police. The fire was returned and the men ran. The area was searched and Blake was found with gunshot wounds in a gully. He was pronounced dead at the Percy Junor Hospital.

Investigators allege that the men had gained entry to the building by breaking windows and cutting open a metal grill.

The Bureau of Special Investigations has launched a probe into the incident.
