CENTERSTAGE with Johnny

Christopher 'Johnny' Daley - Contributed

Artiste of the Month Christopher 'Johnny' Daley.

Stage name: Johnny

Real name: Christopher Daley

Birth date: April 12, 1977

Which high school did you attend?

Ardenne High

How did you get started in the business?

I basically got started in stand-up comedy as a trio, then after that I started doing a half-time Crack-Up Show.

What has been your greatest challenge in the business yet?

To reinvent and continue to better yourself.

What have you been up to lately?

Quite a few things, currently working on Comedy Buss, I'm busy working on Strength Of A Woman, was at Wellfest recently and I also recently hosted Flavour Of Jamaica.

Do you look up to any specific comedian?

Well, I look up to quite a few of them, Blakka Ellis who is a mentor, Charles Hyatt who has passed on and Ity and Fancy Cat as a duo. Internationally, Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy.

Are you happy with the way things are going for your career right now?

Pretty happy, not a lot of things to complain about and I have to give thanks for that. There's also always room for goals and improvements.

Anything you'd like to change about it?

No, not really, you have to be on point and accept all the things that come along with the profession.

What are your future plans?

Lots of future plans, one of them is to build on what SI-WI-Yah Entertainment has started. I also would like to work on my one-man show and I'm also interested in doing work in Africa.

Do you have any advice for young comedians coming up?

Yes, I would say get involved, when opportunity comes like competitions come up get involved in it, tell your jokes to your family and friends and don't be afraid to have an audience.
