A week after he disclosed to relatives that he was experiencing a spate of depression, the body of Fitzroy Campbell, a 65-year-old maintenance supervisor at Garvey Maceo High School in Clarendon, was yesterday fished from the Kingston Harbour.
Clad only in a blue-striped boxer shorts, his partially decomposed body was found floating approximately 100 metres from the shores of the Palisadoes Road by a team of officers attached to the Marine Police Division.
Not safe to swim
This is an area where persons have been warned not to swim because of the danger.
"An on the spot post-mortem revealed that he died by drowning," said Sgt. Ansel Gordon, who led the marine team.
Reports are that Mr. Campbell, who was a resident at the New Town Housing Scheme in Hayes, Clarendon, was invited to Kingston by a relative who took him to the doctor.
According to the police, it is believed that on Monday he wondered off from the Harbour View residence where he was staying. The lawmen also believe that he went into the water and later got into difficulties and drowned before help could reach him.
