Album Title: Walk Out
Artiste: Lady Saw
Label: VP Records
Rating: ❍❍❍❍❉
Lady Saw gives a proper tongue lashing on her final VP album, entitled Walk Out. The album unearths a Lady Saw that sounds more cross than raunchy, as she speaks her mind in an interview-styled song called Hello Lady Saw, which opens the album.
Throughout the album, Saw's sound has a rap style to it, which adds a unique touch to the overall sound of the album.
Saw apparently uses the opportunity to get a few issues off her chest, as track three, Me And My Crew (The Rae) sounds like Saw is spitting her lyrics at a specific female artiste in the business.
But after all the 'passa', Saw chooses to tone things down a bit, as she sings about her Silly Dreams and of course the heartfelt No Less Than A Woman (Infertility) - which needs no introduction or explanation to the real fans who have followed Lady Saw's own personal struggles and disappointments.
As listeners explore the remainder of the album, they will find encouraging words in songs like Not The World's Prettiest, where Saw says "I don't have a super model shape...but I'm beautiful so walk with grace ..."
Walk Out is where the hard-core Lady Saw returns to the fore, as she warns, "walk out mek mi show yuh wah mi made a, mi nuh si no gyal out deh weh mi 'fraid a." A cross Lady Saw continues on the war path with Chat To Mi Back as she rightly introduces the song with a slight laugh, saying, "heh heh, mix up again!"
Needless to say, Lady Saw's Walk Out ends on a musical high, with vibes kicking and the bass line pumping.
