-Macka Diamond and Black-Er 'Bun Him'
'Bun Him! ... the saga' continues in Macka Diamond's first novel. Appropriately titled Bun Him, the novel picks up where the controversial song left off.
Branching off into a different avenue, Macka Diamond puts pen to paper saying "the whole thing has caused a lot of controversy. I figured if I put it in a book form it would be interesting."
Like the song, the book deals with a woman who cheats on her significant other. The lead character is a young girl named Sandra, who finds herself in an unsatisfying marriage. Sexually frustrated, she cheats on her husband with a young stud and eventually finds herself pregnant - but not for her husband.
While some thought the song with Black-Er was condoning cheating on one's partner, the book tells a different story. According to Macka, the book is trying to show the negative effects of cheating on a relationship.
"Its basically about the 'bun him' issue, its not something yuh haffi do. It's a story showing a mistake, what can happen in life, but yuh don't haffi give bun," she said.

Dubiously dubbed 'Jamaica's first dancehall novel', the setting is young, hip and deeply embedded in the dancehall culture. Macka elaborates, "mi mek it really dancehall, di girl is on her way to Weddi Weddi, she listens to a T.O.K and others." To write the novel, Macka had the assistance of a co-writer to translate her lyrics to the page.
Striving to set herself apart from other female entertainers, Macka surprised the entertainment community with her new career path, however, she maintains that the book is all Macka.
There are plans to distribute the book to the Caribbean, North America and Japan. 'Bun Him' will be available officially on August 1. In the meantime, eager fans can pick up pre-releases of the novel islandwide in July.
Depending on what interesting new issues crop up in the society, Macka Diamond may soon find herself back to the drawing board penning another raunchy tale.
