The search for a 35-year-old man who managed to elude the police for more than six months, after being accused of committing more than 200 counts of obtaining money by means of false pretence, is now over.
Mark Robinson, of Old Harbour, was taken into custody by the Spanish Town Police yesterday after a six-month investigation.
According to Detective Sergeant Dale Peart, Robinson operated by telling unsuspecting persons, mostly females, that he operates a security company at the Norman Manley International Airport and is employing persons as security guards. He then told them to pay a fee of $2,000 to $4,000.

After the dates for the job interviews were set, the plan fell through as when the prospective candidates turned up at the airport, they were told that Robinson was not involved in a security business there. A member of complaints from affected persons were made to the police at the Spanish Town police November last year, and the picture of the accused posted in the newspaper.
However, the police say that Robinson proved quite difficult to hold. He was held after he was assaulted by his female companion and was arrested under the name Damion McCormack.
The police say that they are asking anyone who may have been swindled by the alleged accused to contact the Spanish Town Police at 984-2874.
In the meantime, Robinson is scheduled to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on May 22.
