Eleven injured in vehicular crash

By George Henry, Star Writer

spaldings, clarendon:

Eleven persons were injured following a motor vehicle accident at White Shop in Clarendon yesterday afternoon. Those injured include eight students who attend Knox College, Knox Junior School and Spaldings High, all in Spaldings, and three adults from Clarendon addresses.

The victims, who received chest and head injuries, were rushed to the Percy Junor Hospital, as well as the Mandeville Hospital, where they were treated.

It is understood that three of the students who were considered to be among the more seriously injured were admitted, and that one of the adults, a woman, who is considered to be serious, had to be admitted to the Mandeville Hospital. She is said to be in a stable condition. Up to press time two other students were still at the Percy Junor Hospital receiving treatment. Five others were treated and released.

Collision with car

It is reported that the accident occurred when a minibus, which was transporting the students to Frankfield some minutes to 4 p.m., collided with a car on reaching White Shop.

Const. Dinstan Faulknor of the Spaldings Police Station said that the car was behind another minibus on a stretch of road on its way to Spaldings, when the driver decided to overtake. He collided with the minibus with the children. The constable stated that the minibus was hit off the road and over a precipice.
