No more preying on underaged girls

The lead story in Wednesday's STAR highlighted an important issue. According to the story, the Spanish Town police are searching for a man who was recruiting young girls for X-rated films and projects.

The story reported that the man has been telling the young girls who are under 18 years old that he can make them into pornographic stars.

The man even tried to convince a STAR reporter who called him pretending to be a 17-year-old girl, to get involved in his venture.

This case is certainly not the first involving men who have been preying on children and is certainly showing that a trend is developing. It has to be nipped in the bud.

Too many old, mature men are exploiting teenage girls by involving them in all sorts of sexual acts.

The story also raises the point that more of our young girls need to be counselled. They need to know how to deal with these predators.

We have to make our girls not only turn away these men when they make their advances, but also to report them.

Our girls need to know that their body is more than just a sex object and they should love it and be careful about what they do with it. Therefore, all role models in young girls' lives need to start teaching them to love themselves and be careful of men like these who are trying to rob them of their innocence.
