Power of Faith Juniors on the back of a solid 51 runs from man-of-the-match, Peter Harrison, defeated Harvest Temple Church by 67 runs in the inaugural Dr. Delford Davis, Twenty/20 Portmore Limited Overs Church Cricket League at the Lime Tree Oval last Saturday.
Batting first, Power of Faith Juniors. piled up a challenging 149-9 off their allotted 20 overs, with Harrison making a fine half century and Kenroy Lewis contributing 31 runs. Captain of Harvest Temple, Keith Taylor (2-16), and 13-year-old sensation Junior Gayle (2-18) took most wickets for their team.
Harvest Temple struggled in their reply and were bowled out for 82, with young Gayle top scoring with 41 not out. Harrison (2-2) and Jermaine Taylor (2-11) took most wickets for Power of Faith.
In another game at the venue, Braeton New Testament easily defeated Miracle Open Bible Church by five wickets. Scores: Miracle Open Bible 101 all out (Darren Porter 14, Lushane Black 12; Edward Brown 3-19, Balford Dutch 2-14). Braeton 102-5 off 12.8 overs, (Desmond Hamilton 25, Richard McIntosh 22; Ainsworth Clocking 2-27, Nicardo Bemboo 2-37). The competition continues this morning with two games.
