The two suspects charged with the murder of former heavyweight boxing champion, Trevor Berbick, are scheduled to re-appear in the Buff bay Home Circuit court on June 18.
The two men, Kenton Gordon, and Harold Berbick, who last appeared in the Buff bay Home circuit court on March 23, had their court files transferred by the Director of Public Prosecutions who put forward a Voluntary Bill for the court date.
PAVEMENT OF BILLS
Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) liaison officer for Portland, Corporal Dwane Campbell explained that the bill paved the way for the trial to be transferred from the Resident Magistrate's court to the Home Circuit court for trial.
In the meantime, Berbick, nephew to the slain boxer, had his bail extended until June 18, while Gordon, who has been in custody since October 30 last year, is still behind bars as no one has come forward to stand surety for him. Both men were offered bail in the sum of $ 1 million each on February 26.
The body of the former boxer was discovered near his home at Norwich on October 28 last year, with four chop wounds to the back of the head.
Police sources say they believe that the former boxer was ambushed by his attackers.
The police have since recovered a crow bar and a four-feet -long metallic pipe fitted with a clamp, which they believe was used by the suspects in committing the gruesome murder. At the time of his death the boxer was 56 years old.
