Ninja Man, Lutan Fyah draw the line

Winston Sill - Ninja Man performs at the Pulse Investment Limited's 'Rock The World' Concert, held at the One Love Jamaica Village, NHT car park, Park Boulevard, New Kingston, on Wednesday. Ninja Man was called onstage by Shaggy to deal with 'church heathens'.

'The Occasion III' was in its daylight stages at the Eastern Peace Centre, Windward Road, on Sunday morning, and a few people were calling it a night when four vehicles sped into the venue, hazard lights twinkling.

They were followed by a number of people on foot, as many who were in the process of leaving turned back. The reason for their return was soon clear, as a full white-clad Ninja Man stepped out of one of the vehicles and strode across the grounds, through part of the audience, to the stage.

His turn came after Da'Ville delivered Always on My Mind, Ninja Man deejaying "while de fool dem talking, Ninja Man walking.

"Some bway a war like gal an bway," Ninja Man said, chanting "man a Gorgon".

There was a brief exchange with Mr. Peppa, cheers coming as Ninja Man reminded him of the streets that he used to run and turning as he delayed "me have a gun go raga raga".

"Killer have a tune. Everywhere me go me walk wid it," Ninja Man said. The song was duly played, Ninja Man holding a crouched-over stance to when Bounty deejayed "Ninja yu done/from de firs' day yu gi Adams yu gun".

"Gi mi back de riddim. Me ago deejay pon it," he said, proceeding to declare "when me start war me finish it". And there was an eruption from the audience when Ninja Man deejayed "see de Killer deh whe me no badda waan kill/Angel lef' yu true yuh cyaan pay de p..y bill".

Erupt came in before Ninja Man left the stage, the 'Don Gorgon' pointing out that he was back in the money as he had made an overseas run, a BMW X5 that he had bought and driven to the dance, the evidence of his latest round of fortune.

In the much-earlier going, Lutan Fyah was not as specific with his anger, but left no doubt as to his feelings. "Dem put me name up ova de Internet, all ova de worl', sey me dis Rasta, afta dem singing merengue music an' soca," he said. "Nutten dem sing represent Rasta culture. So how come Lutan Fyah sing 'Rasta still deh bout' dem sey him dis Rasta? Fia bun!" he said.

"Me nah sey dem a fight me, cause dem cyaan fight Selassie, but we haffi bun some big dread," Lutan Fyah said. "Big up Sizzla Kalonji again. De res' a dem a dunce."
