The island's murder rate was increased yesterday after a man was shot and killed by unknown assailants in the country's capital.
The man has been identified as Paul Junior Anderson of Nannyville Gardens, Kingston.
Reports from the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) are that Mr. Anderson was found in his Toyota corolla motor car on Mountain View Avenue in the vicinity of the National Stadium, suffering from gunshot wounds.
The police speculate that he may have been shot in Nannyville Gardens and drove on to Mountain View Avenue where he succumbed to injuries sustained.
The Stadium police who combed the scene for clues have yet to obtain a motive for the killing; however the investigations are said to be ongoing.
Mr. Anderson's death brings to 53, the number of persons murdered in St. Andrew central since the start of the year, compared to last year's figure of 37 for the same period.
