Jamaica-born jockey Shaun Bridgmohan enjoyed a huge weekend of a whopping nine victories including a stakes triumph at Churchill Downs.

Bridgmohan, reigning champion here at the home of the Kentucky Derby, rode three winners Friday, three more on Saturday counting the Jefferson Cup Stakes, and collected another three-timer on Sunday afternoon.

His nine-win weekend vaulted him to fourth in the jockeys' standings with 35 wins, trailing Julien Leparoux (48), Rafael Bejarano (43) and Robby Albarado (38).

On Friday, Bridgmohan won the US$23,000 first race over 1-1/16th miles by a head with the 2-5 favourite Pennant Contender in one minute 44.82 seconds.

He returned half an hour later to land the US$49,100 second race over five furlongs with Sky Mom (4-1) by 1-1/2 lengths in 57.19 seconds.

Bridgmohan collected his third win with TJ's Posse (7-5) in the US$19,000 fourth race over 4-1/2 furlongs in 52.31 seconds.

Triple success

On Saturday, he kicked off his triple success in the one-mile US$44,150 second race with the favourite Humble Janet (3-2) by a neck in 1:36.96

He then won the US$42,410 third race over five furlongs with Sok Sok (4-1) by four lengths in 57.08.

Then the three-year-old gelding Inca King registered an upset win under Bridgmohan in the US$221,000 Jefferson Cup Stakes over 1-1/8th miles.

Adeptly paced by Bridgmohan in a front-running effort, Inca King accelerated decisively down the homestretch and won handsomely by three lengths in one minute 48.94 seconds at odds of 8-1.

"When I called on him he just kicked it in," said Bridgmohan.

The 4-5 favourite Duveen finished second and Jazz Quest (5-1) placed third.

Sunday's run of successes for Bridgmohan began with the US$14,000 first race over 5-1/2 furlongs with the 2-1 favourite Oriental Punch by 2-3/4 lengths in 1:05.28.

The 1998 Eclipse Award winner as North America's top apprentice secured his second win on Sunday's card by two lengths with Blitzing (3-2) in the US$40,690 fifth race over five furlongs in 57.68 seconds.

And he completed his triple in the US$18,000 seventh race over six furlongs with Spillway, a 3-1/2 length winner in 1:10.69 at odds of 5-1.
