Everyone needs a second chance

Yesterday's STAR lead explored the family life of young star QQ, and the face of his mother was finally revealed to the general public. What was also disclosed was her struggle to be a part of her son's life and the fact that she feels as though she has been neglected.

Though QQ's father claims that his mother abandoned him and now only wants to be a part of his life because of his success, we cannot help but feel sympathetic towards her, especially when we read about her inability to attend his shows because of financial constraints.

Every child deserves, two parents, and even in cases where one parent was delinquent, he or she deserves a second chance. Though it might be hard for one parent to look beyond what the other did, the interest of the child should be what comes first. Nothing can replace a mother's love, and even though QQ's father might be a wonderful parent, there will always be something missing.

The parents of most stars, especially child stars, usually enjoy and share in their child's success. In this case, this is not so. QQ's mother is forced to watch her child as any other supporter would - on television or from the back of a crowded auditorium. No backstage passes or free tickets.

Since we are not in a position to cast judgement on either parent, we can only encourage them both to do what is best for young QQ, and evaluate their actions and the potential effects they could have.
