Alleged metal thieves get bail extension

By Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer
Spanish Town

Andrew Walters, 25 and Oneil Henry 29, both labourers of May Pen addresses, were given an extension on their bails until July 20 to reappear in court for larceny of several pieces of railway lines.

When the men appeared before the May Pen Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday, it was borne out that on Monday morning around 2 o'clock, the police, acting on information, went to a section of the Jamalco train line and found both men loading pieces of the train line metal on a Mack truck. They were both taken into custody and charged with simple larceny.

They pleaded not guilty. In recent times, it has been announced that persons are targeting metals of all sorts to fill orders of the lucrative raw-metal business that exists.

The police in May Pen and other areas around Clarendon promised to step up operations to apprehend persons involved in this trade.
