LaJune Nelson and her husband Kevin Lee shortly after they exchanged vows. -George Henry

BY GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer

SPALDINGS, CLARENDON:

Being apart for two years was not enough to separate Lajune Alana Nelson and Kevin Vaughn Lee. Both showed that love could overcome distance when they decided to tie the knot and exchanged wedding vows at the Santa Hill City of Faith Church of God in Clarendon on June 2, 2007.

Nelson, is the daughter of Linda and Percival Nelson of Baillieston in that parish. She migrated to the United States two years ago, but said the distance could not prevent her from being faithful and loving to her husband Kevin. Kevin is the son of retired Inspector of Police Mervat Alvin Lee of Washington Gardens in St Andrew.

The two who worked with Junior Minister for Works and MP for North West Clarendon Richard Azan, were friends for several years before Lajune migrated a little over two years ago. They remained in their relationship throughout until it blossomed into marriage.

Lee is currently personal assistant to the Junior Works Minister, while Nelson works as a sales representative at Long Island in New York, U.S.A. Both man and wife will never forget the day when they were pronounced man and wife by Reverend Arthur Brown, pastor for the Santa Hill City of Faith Church of God.

Short ceremony

The short ceremony took place under very cool conditions and was a splendid affair for the couple. Both said wedding vows under the guidance of the witty pastor who ensured that there was never a dull moment throughout as he had them and the audience smiling regularly.

LaJune was dressed in a lovely well put together white satin laced wedding gown, with a trail. Her head piece had a crown and it had a piece of silk material behind her head. Her necklace, earring and bouquet blended well with her wedding gown.

Kevin's dark suit, his brown shoes and his constant smile added to the ambience of the venue, and all who witnessed the marriage were pleased with how everything was professionally done. It was also clear that the newly weds enjoyed every moment of the ceremony, especially when asked to kiss each other. The laughter was long and loud, with that of Kevin's boss, Richard Azan's being the loudest.

The reception was splendid. The food was delicious, and the rice and peas, chicken and curried goat that were served to guests, were all in keeping with how the atmosphere in the hall should be.

At the end of the reception, Mr. Lee in his reply, said he was happy to be married to his beautiful wife after their long friendship. Overall the function was wonderful, as all in attendance showed that they loved the new Mr. and Mrs. Lee and wished for them a happy marriage.
