A popular St. Elizabeth entertainer, who is facing charges of indecent assault after he was accused of molesting a seven-year-old girl last month, is set to stand trial in the Santa Cruz RM Court on August 2.
Mark Simms of Pagon Drive, Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth, had his $100,000 bail extended when he appeared in the court on Monday before RM Evan Brown.
The accused was offered bail on May 30, in the Black River RM Court. He is to report to the Santa Cruz Police Station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. He is also to surrender his travel documents.
It's alleged that on April 16 this year, the accused went to a shop where he stops on a regular basis, where he saw the child. The court heard that he took her into his hands and sexually assaulted her.
The matter was reported to the Santa Cruz police and on April 22, he was taken into police custody on reasonable suspicion. He was later arrested and charged. He was remanded when he first appeared in court on May 28.
