Bus driver beaten by mob

A man who allegedly hit down a seven-year-old child in Lizard Town, West Kingston, almost lost his life when he was attacked by a mob which included gunmen.

Melvin Morris, driver of a Kingston 20 address, has since been admitted to the Kingston Public Hospital where he is in stable condition.

Police reports are that at 5:35 p.m. on Monday, a man was driving through the Lizard Town area when he allegedly, hit down the child. As a result, an angry mob set upon Morris and used stones to damage the blue Hiace minibus he was driving. Gunmen who were among the crowd are said to have fired shots, one of which caught Morris in his right upper arm. He tried to escape by reversing and collided with a Toyota Corolla car.

No one has been charged for the attack and the child has been taken to the Bustamante Children's Hospital.
