Six killed in seperate incedents

Six persons were killed in separate incidents across the Corporate Area yesterday.

The body of a University of the West Indies lecturer was found at his Long Mountain home, in College Commons, Kingston 7, on Thursday morning. Dead is 60-year-old Swiss national, Peter Vogel.

Reports are that shortly after 4 a.m., a family member discovered Vogel's body in the living room. Police officers who went on the scene, found Vogel with his mouth gagged and his feet and hands bound. Vogel's green Suzuki Vitara and a number of appliances were missing.

An unidentified man was shot dead at Lamoth Lane, off Maxfield Avenue, Kingston 13. The dead man is of dark complexion, medium build and was dressed in a green shirt, blue shorts, jeans and a pair of black and white sneakers. Reports are that at 8:00 p.m., residents heard explosions and called the police. The body was later discovered.

The St.Andrew South Police are investigating the murder of an 18-year-old who was shot dead at Rosalie Avenue, Kingston 11. Five rounds of ammunition were reportedly found on the body. Dead is Tyrone Harvey of Mahogany Road, Kingston 11. About 1:55 p.m., Harvey and another man took a taxi from downtown Kingston to the Kingston 11 area. On reaching Rosalie Avenue, the two reportedly pulled guns and attempted to rob the driver, who shouted for help.

A group of persons responded and shortly after, explosions were heard and Harvey was shot. His accomplice escaped. Harvey was pronounced dead at the Kingston Public Hospital.

One of a group of men who allegedly engaged the police in a shoot-out was shot dead and an illegal weapon taken from him at Anderson Path, Tavares Gardens, Kingston 11.

Dead is Miguel Walters, otherwise called 'Fuggy' of East Anderson Crescent, Kingston 11.

Reports are that at 4:20 a.m., a police patrol was attacked by a group of gunmen on Anderson Path. The fire was returned and Walters was subsequently found with gunshot wounds. A 9mm Luger pistol with four rounds of ammunition was reportedly taken from him. He was pronounced dead at the Kingston Public Hospital.

Orville Taylor, a 29-year-old higgler, from Waterford, St.Catherine, was shot dead by gunmen as he stood by his stall in the Jubilee Market in downtown Kingston on Thursday afternoon. Reports are that two men armed with guns approached Taylor and shot him twice in the head. He died on the spot.

Also on Thursday afternoon, the body of a woman was found in a barrel that was stashed in the Calvary Cemetery in Admiral Town. The body was wrapped in a sheet and was hidden with items of clothing.
