Answer for an 'angel'

Jackass sey di worl' no level. Jackass sey D'Angel a play de fool ova de Sumfes'.

Now, Jackass was reading THE STAR on Friday and, after Dear Pastor, turned to the story about D'Angel upset about not getting a spot on 'Sumfest's' Dancehall Night. A couple years ago, Jr. Reid was cross about almost the same thing.

But when D'Angel is going to complain that "mi nuh inna nuh call on ting. I have earned the position to be on 'Sumfest', so the capacity that they wanted me to work in I declined. I am a solo act, I can hold my own and do my 15, 20 minutes of performance too," is a different matter entirely.

You see, there is a thing called believing the hype and Michelle 'D'Angel' Downer obviously has made that error. She is cross, angry and miserable. Uh oh, wrong man, try again. She is zagga zow, rrrr rrrrr rrrrr and having a heart attack over the 'Sumfest' organisers not calling her for a spot on the festival, when it is the people's choice of whom they want to perform.

The world is not level at all because D'Angel has believed the publicity around her movement from Bounty Killer to Beenie Man has made her an artiste, so much that she is angry about people doing what they should with their own show, putting what they believe is the best of what is available on the stage.

Jackass has seen D'Angel performed a few times, never on her own and, even riding on Beenie Man's hype, she has not been good enough to make me want to see her on her own. Sure, the audience cheers, but she is not quite on the rhythm, she does not have punch in her voice and she certainly does not have songs to fill the 15 or 20 minutes that she wanted of 'Sumfest's' time, not as a paid artiste (unless you want to hear her say 'Beenie Man' over and over again. If she wants to go into the section with Mr. Chumps, that is a different matter.)

But she has obviously believed that seeing her name in print over and over in connection with Beenie Man has made her a good performer (chances are she is, but only in ways that people like Mr. Pryce and Mr. Davis would know about and certainly she did not cook enough oxtail for all of us to taste and get hooked).

The people at 'Sumfest' did not give a response, really, but Jackass can just imagine how they would reply if they did not have to be diplomatic about it and not offend Beenie Man.

In fact, they would probably get cross, angry and very miserable and say: "She har not get hany work hon Sumfes' because she har not good henough. She har not gots hany melody, all she got is felony for tief man eart, she har not gots hany lyrics, hall she got his gimmicks. She don't get a spot on Sumfes' because she are not deserve it. She violate. She break the code of conduck regarding hartis. You don't beg space on show. You jus' does not does dat. Promoter mus run dung hartis, not hartis run dung promoter. Hangel sweedart, we bus from Aidonia to Zebra, but we jus' can't bus you. If we give you a work we ave to give Miss Thing a work too and we are would ave to cut de ticket price by $200, just for pain han suffarin'. Nex year are might diffrant, you are might fin' tune, but right now, you is just not ready fi dis. No dis."

Jackass sey di worl' no level. Jackass sey a Beenie Man fault, because if de hoxtail did really sweet him woulda screechy some money back pon de Sumfes' people an sey pay mi wife outta dis. And so!
