A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition when a gun was found on him on Sunday.

Eric Downie of Content Gardens, St. Ann, is now facing these charges. Police reports are that between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., police carried out an operation in Scarlett Hall. During the exercise, a Honda CRV registered 4718 DR was stopped. Downie who was a passenger in the vehicle was observed pulling a black object out of his waistband.

The object when retrieved turned out to be a Glock 19 pistol. Following a search of the vehicle a 9 mm magazine with five rounds was also seized.

Downie was subsequently arrested and charged by the Runaway Bay police who are conducting further investigations.
