By Dwayne Mcleod, Staff Reporter

Seven persons were killed over the weekend in separate incidents in Kingston, St. Catherine and Montego Bay.

The Kingston Central Police are investigating the shooting of five persons, two fatally, on Saturday.

Dead are Alisha Lee, 86, and three- year-old Conroy Burton, both of Maiden Lane, downtown. Injured also are three males.

Police say at about 4:20p.m., the five were at the intersection of Maiden Lane and East Queen Street when gunmen approached and opened fire, hitting them. They were taken to hospital where Lee and Burton were pronounced dead, and the three males were admitted in serious condition.

A couple hours later, Maurice West, 39, auto body repairman, was shot dead and another man injured in Greenwich Town, Kingston 13.

Two fishermen

Police say at about 8p.m., West was standing on the roadway talking to a man sitting in a car, when a dark coloured car drove up. Thugs armed with guns alighted from the vehicle and opened fire, hitting them. West died on the spot, while the other man was taken to hospital where he was admitted in serious condition.

Minutes later, two fishermen were shot, one fatally, at a popular seafood restaurant in St. Catherine. Dead is Robert 'Ninety-nine' Levy, 40, and injured is a 32-year-old man, both from St. Catherine.

Police say at about 8:30p.m., Levy and the other man were having a conversation, when they were approached by a gunman who opened fire on them. The police were summoned and the injured men were taken to hospital where Levy was pronounced dead and the other man admitted in stable condition.

An hour later, over in St. James, a home-made gun was seized following the fatal shooting of an unidentified man. The dead man is about 178 centimetres tall, fair complexion and a was clad in blue jeans pants and a green shirt.
