FALMOUTH, Trelawny
Harbour View marched into the final of the Sherwin Williams Women's Knockout Football Competition by beating Trelawny 4-2 at the Elleston Wakeland Centre in Falmouth, yesterday.
The Vin Blaine-coached trained girls were expected to thrash the home team, but this did not fully materialise as the Trelawny aggregation put in a gallant performance.
The winners took a 3-0 lead in the first half through Nicole Bell, Astacya McIntyre and Shanique Mitchell. Bell was at the right place at the right time to score from a melee in the eighth minute. McIntyre's goal came by way of a penalty in the 26th minute, while Mitchell beat the Trelawny offside trap to score easily.
Trelawny replied six minutes into the second half through a Yanique Smith penalty. Two minutes later relentless pressure forced Randeesh Rowe to head one back past her goal keeper in an own goal, to bring up the Trelawny girls' second goal. In the 89th minute, Nicole Bell sealed her brace with a penalty to put the game out of the reach of Trelawny.
Harbour View will meet Waterhouse in the final next Sunday.
