Jamaica's leading track stars, Asafa Powell and Veronica Campbell, won the men's and women's 100 metres at the Memorial Van Damme Golden League meet in Brussels, Belgium yesterday.

Powell who broke his own world record on Sunday in Italy swept to victory in 9.84 seconds yesterday against a minus 0.3 metres per second wind. Saidy Ndure Jaysuma of Norway was second in 10.11 just edging out Jamaica's Michael Frater, 10.12.

Three Jamaicans faced the starter in the women's 100m with Campbell coming through smoothly in the last 20 metres to win going away in 11.11 ahead of Christine Arron of France and American Torri Edwards. Both women clocked 11.22. Jamaica's Aleen Bailey was fifth in 11.30 and Sheri-Ann Brooks ninth in 11.45.

Delloreen Ennis-London (12.61) maintained her good form by grabbing second in the women's 100m hurdles ahead of world champion, American Michelle Perry who was awarded the same time. Sweden's Susanna Kallur won in a fast 12.52.

World Championships silver medallist Usain Bolt was beaten by his archrival, American Wallace Spearmon, in the men's 200m. Spearmon was very impressive in clocking 19.88 to beat his compatriot, Xavier Carter, 20.04 with Bolt in third in 20.14.

National champion Maurice Wignall was ninth in the men's 110m hurdles won in 13.21 by Cuba's Dayron Robles.
