SPALDINGS maintained their perfect start to the 2007 ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup season, with a ruthless 12-0 hammering of Albert Town in their Zone G clash at Spaldings yesterday.

Orville Daley and Jamali Powell bagged three goals apiece to lead the mauling, while Andre Samlon, Christopher Brooks and Milton Christopher added to the rout by scoring two goals apiece.

Spaldings, which led 5-0 at half-time, were recording their third consecutive win and now head the group with maximum nine points from three encounters. They had beaten Holmwood 2-1 and Christiana 1-0 in previous matches.

Albert Town lost for the second time in as many matches, following a 0-1 defeat to Knox in their opening fixture.

Ding-dong affair

In another Zone G match yesterday, Holmwood beat Christiana 3-1 at Christiana.

The battle for top honours in Zone A continues to be a ding-dong affair as joint leaders Cornwall College and St. James High School both emerged victorious yesterday to be on nine points after three games.

Cornwall were in rampant form against Anchovy on their home turf as they emerged 4-0 winners courtesy of a hat-trick from striker Radcliff Hall, who took his tally to six this season. The other goal, a penalty, was netted by skipper Edward Campbell.

In their game against William Knibb at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay, the red-hot St. James High, behind a double strike by Nicholi Barrett, who is responsible for all six goals scored by his team this season, gave them a 2-0 win.

Rusea's, tipped as the mostly likely contender to dethrone champions Glenmuir, gave another classy display, blanking Cambridge 5-0. Roydel Moncrieffe (2), Andre Atkinson (2) and Nicholas Ebanks were the goalscorers for the Hanover team.

The competition will continue this afternoon with champions Glenmuir gunning for their third win in as many starts when they play away to joint Zone I leader Garvey Maceo in one of 13 games down for contention.
