Cabbie killed, woman injured by gunmen

A taxi operator was killed and a woman injured when gunmen opened fire on the man on Wednesday morning as he was walking towards his vehicle.

The dead man has been identified as Omar Samuels, 27, while injured is a 41-year-old woman, both of Kintyre.

The police report that at about 5:45 a.m., Samuels was walking towards his car when he was attacked by gunmen who opened fire hitting him. The woman, who was in her house nearby, reportedly felt a burning sensation on her hand and in her head. It was later discovered she had been shot.

Both were taken to the hospital where Samuels was pronounced dead and the woman admitted in stable condition.

The Papine police are investigating.
