Three men, including two workers from Wisynco Group of Companies who conspired to steal Bigga soft drink valued at nearly $200,000, were remanded when they appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Vincent Campbell, a sideman, Garfield Skirving, a forklift operator, and Philmore Brown a labourer, were all remanded when they appeared before Senior RM Lorna Errar-Gayle.
According to investigating officer Det. Cpl. Robert Blake of the Central Village police, on September 16, Skirving was working the 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. shift when he planned with Campbell and loaded more than 100 cases of Bigga soft drink on a truck. The policeman told the court that the truck was not searched by security as it carried only empties. Campbell allegedly drove to Sligoville main road about 2 a.m. where police caught Brown along with other men unloading the soft drinks. The others escaped but Brown was held.
Further investigations led to Campbell and Skirving being charged with larceny and conspiracy and Brown charged with receiving stolen property.
Brown and Skirving, who were on bail, had their bails revoked when they appeared in the Spanish Town RM Court on Tuesday. RM Gayle told a lawyer defending the men that Brown had played an integral part and that was the only way he could have known that the truck would be unloading stolen goods. She then remanded all three. They will reappear on October 16.
