by Orville Clarke,Portmore Star Writer

Portmore-based Meadowvale accounted for yet another star-studded team in the Henkel-sponsored Federation Cup skittles competition when they defeated Cherry's Strikers 6-5 in an away match at Hughenden Plaza last Sunday.

Meadowvale are now unbeaten in three matches, having stopped pre-season favourites Eastern All-Star in their first match at Meadowvale and Mystix in their second match at Mystix Sports Bar, 783/4 Hagley Park Road.

In contrast, the other Portmore-based team The Dip, from Gregory Park, have not been faring well, losing both matches so far.

Last Sunday, The Dip were scheduled to host Mystix at Gregory Park in their third match, but it had to postponed due to bad weather. This match has been rescheduled for tonight at The Dip, starting at 7:00

In other matches played in last Sunday's third round, home team Dragon defeated Eastern All-Stars 6-5 (6-4) in their 'Battle of the East' clash at Giltress Street in Rollington Town; newcomers Olympic Strikers clipped House Of Peace 6-5 and Rowe's Strikers also pipped Waltham Strikers 6-5 in an away match at Waltham Park Road.

For tomorrow's matches, Meadowvale are at home to Waltham, Cherry's Strikers up against The Dip at Hughenden Plaza, Mystix vs Dragon at 78 3/4 Hagley Park Road, Rowe's Strikers vs House of Peace at Chelsea Jerk Centre and Olympic Strikers vs Eastern All-Stars in Olympic Gardens.

Waterford, Portsmouth to clash in mid-season final

Defending champions Waterford CC will be going for their first silverware of the season when they meet Portsmouth in the Petcom Metropolitan Cricket League mid-season final at the Bridgeport Sports ground on Sunday, October 21.

Match time is 11 a.m.

Waterford topped Group B with maximum 16 points from four matches, and Group A leaders Portsmouth had a perfect 12 points from three games as the first round of the league came to a close.

Rain created havoc on last week's fixtures, as only one game got off the mark and lasted just ten overs, with Waterford CC being forced to leave the field on 23-2 due to a heavy downpour.

Meanwhile, one game is scheduled to play tomorrow, as winless MegaMart Developmental Squad, plays Belmont CC at Bridgeport Sports Ground.
