The Jamaican jockey Shaun Bridgmohan produced a stirring finish and won the Bryan Station Stakes astride the unfancied entry, Inca King, at Keeneland on Sunday afternoon.

Going off at odds of 10-to-1, Inca King won the US$150,000 one-mile run on turf by three and three-quarters of a length in one minute 35.88 seconds.

The hot even-money favourite, Distorted Reality, was second.

Inca King accelerated decisively at the top of the homestretch to establish a commanding lead en route to an authoritative victory.

After sitting behind the leaders early, Bridgmohan roused Inca King to take command with a quarter mile remaining.

"When I asked him to pick it up at the top of the stretch, he went ahead and punched on home," said Bridgmohan, the 1998 Eclipse Award winner as North America's top apprentice.

Distorted Reality, with leading jockey Rafael Bejarano seeking his fourth straight win and fifth of the day, tried to rally in the stretch, but was no match for the winner.

Admiral Bird was another three lengths back in third in the field of 10.

Bridgmohan also won the US$22,000 third race over seven furlongs with the six-year-old gelding Erdiston for Barbados-based Canadian owner Eugene Melnyk.

Erdiston, a 7-2 bet in the 10-horse field, led early and drew clear in the homestretch to win by 3-3/4 lengths in 1:23.31.

Bridgmohan moved up to fourth in the week-and-a-half-old season with seven wins, trailing Rafael Bejarano (14), Julien Leparoux (9) and Jamie Theriot (8).
