The St. Elizabeth police say they recently made an important discovery in what they believe is a major car-stealing ring being operated in the parish.
On Tuesday, three motor vehicles and a large quantity of car parts, registration plates and other car accessories were seized by the Santa Cruz police during a raid at premises in the Pepper District.
The police are seeking 50-year-old Chesterfield Irvin, who they believe can assist in their investigation, after his female companion who was found at the house was taken in for questioning.
Inspector Louis Brown of the Area 3 police told THE STAR that they were acting on information and subsequently made the breakthrough.
"The Santa Cruz police, acting on intelligence, went to a premises in the Pepper district on Tuesday afternoon and made the seizure," said Insp. Brown.
He said further that the vehicles were reported missing over the weekend.
"These cars were reported stolen in Nain and Junction in southern St. Elizabeth between Sunday and Monday."
The police are continuing their investigations and are urging residents of the parish to come forward with any information that might be of assistance in clamping down on the racket.
