A dancing vibe at Passa Passa

Dwayne Mcleod, Staff Reporter

It's like he died and went to heaven. This man was having the time of his life as a woman gave him a little bit more than a hug at Passa Passa.

For some, an early Thursday morning might be the start of just day. But for dancers, Ravers Clavers, Black Blingaz, Sample Six and Shelly Belly this is the end of a night full of pure fun, energy and vibes at Passa Passa.

From just chilling and holding a vibe, to showcasing their new and old moves, some dancers say Passa Passa is not to be missed.

"Passa Passa a di ting weh start it fi we, a jus a different vibes ... man gone pon all truck top and dem ting deh," Shelly Belly, STAR Artiste of the Month explains.

When THE STAR team arrived on the scene at about 6 :15 a.m., the mood at the party was quite calm, however in a matter of minutes the mood switched and it was time for the dancers to showcase what they had in store.

Shelly Belly took to the skies on the top of the sound boxes at Passa Passa, west Kingston, early Thursday morning.

Artistes of the month, Ravers Clavers, Black Blingaz, Sample Six and Shelly Belly were all posted at different sections of the party which truly gave passers-by as well as others present along Spanish Town Road, a spectacle to behold.

Shelly Belly '90s rocked', the Black Blingaz preferred to 'black dem out', the Ravers Clavers 'cut dem off' and Sample Six showed off their 'hot shoes' to the sounds of Vybz Kartel's Sen Fi Mi Army and RDX's Everybody Dance, among other selections.

Cars and trucks, wheelbarrows, scandal bags, and a bench also served as props for the often spontaneous performances.

Just beside the selectors booth, was an area which was referred to as the 'hotel', where a bench was placed and used as a bed for the male and female dancers who decided to 'drop dead'. Many onlookers were amazed at the rather high-flying acts.

With the sun fully out from it's nest, THE STAR team left Passa Passa at 7:45 with the party still in full swing.
