Lisa Grant otherwise known as Leesa is a young star on the rise to stardom.

The 11-year-old student of the Hillside Primary located in St. Mary has been singing from as early as she could recall.

"I have always been singing in the house and from I was very little, would imitate Mariah Carey alot," she said.

Leesa's stepfather Shaun Henry former member of the group X-ale has been a great influence in her career and was the first to discover her talent.

"One day I was singing a song and my stepfather heard me singing and like how I sound. He then wrote a song for me called Cry Of A Child which I recorded on the Devine Intervention rhythm, "Leesa recalled.

After the release of the single, Leesa has performed at several local shows, including the Crowning of the Miss Islington High, several community and church events and an award show staged for her stepfather.

She has also shared the stage with well-known artistes like Capleton and Munga.

Leesa says apart from doing music, she would like to pursue other careers.

"I would like to do music fulltime, but if that doesn't work, I would like to become a nurse," she said.

Leesa has also set many goals to help enable her success in music, as she is determined to shine like a star.

"I want to reach as far as the music can take me and would like to make my music different from all the others as I intend to only sing conscious and clean lyrics."
