Roxcina Mittoo, daughter of the late, great pianist Jackie Mittoo, intends to keep the musical fire burning through her voice.

"I intend to keep the music in the family tradition, as it is a very powerful tool and it also sends a great message," Mittoo told The STAR.

The daughter of the former Kingston College old boy who has done Jamaica proud worldwide, said that her belief in her abilities was the major force behind her decision to try and break into the entertainment industry.

Talent shows

And while not having any releases, Mittoo has figured prominently on several talent shows.

"I was placed second runner-up in the Red Label Wine song competition in 2005, the money was not much, but I am thankful. I have also used other shows to showcase my talent, such as the Tastee Competition and even the Rising Stars.

Although not yet a winner, she remains committed, working harder at what she does best.

The mother of two, who lives in Old Harbour, promises to carry on her late father's legacy. <
