The Editor, Sir:
Hon Minister of Health, we the staff at the Bellevue Hospital want you and your Government, to throw your support behind the lately installed CEO, Hugh Porter, at the Bellevue Hospital.
He is just there a short time and he has transformed the hospital so that everyone who visits the institution can talk about the hospital and feel pleased, for example, areas such as the security fencing and the compound. The light at the hospital is like that at the National Stadium and the compound is like Hope Gardens.
He has stamped out 95 per cent of the corruption. He is a manager, a father and a brother. You can talk to him about any problems you are experiencing on the job.
There are still some problems to solve. The roof of some buildings leak whenever it rains.
Honourable Minister, if you give the CEO the budget he needs, he will transform the hospital into the world's best mental institution.
You and your team must make a visit to the hospital and see the good work of that CEO, he is very concerned about mental health in Jamaica.
I am etc,
NORMAN LAWRENCE
