MAKYN THE NEWS

These youngsters from the Old Harbour Bay area were seen having a jolly time in the water from the heavy rains recently associated with Tropical Storm Noel.

I hope that most of you weren't too wet over this past week with all the rain associated with Tropical Storm Noel.

For many, it has caused so much pain. But, my focus is on a group of children who I saw in the Old Harbour Bay area of St. Catherine, having a whale of a time in the water. Later, a man came and sent them home.

The experience had me asking many questions and also had me remembering my younger days when I also enjoyed such times, while not realising all the dangers associated with these kinds of activities, especially when you look at all the possibilities such as infection from germs and drowning.

Although many may argue that there was not enough water in this case for such a thing to happen, there was an incident which occurred with a three-year-old boy in Treadways district in Linstead, St. Catherine, on Thursday, as he made his way from school. I'm saying all of this to say that let us all as adults look out for these kids.
