Ifrica tackling serious topics

Queen Ifrica - File

Artiste of the Month Queen Ifrica is a hard-hitting lyricist tackling the serious issues in life with a vigour.

Ifrica chooses her songs that hit the right note musically and philosophically as well. She gets her inspiration from day to day life, not caring about the somewhat negative reactions of a few of her peers.

"I choose my songs specifically for self development. If a problem is dere then there must be a solution. I don't work for fans, I don't harbour fans. I encourage them to follow people like Etana and Tarrus. Sometimes fans protect the artistes. I want a fan dat can criticise me and tell me when I'm slipping," she said.

So far, Ifrica has not 'slipped' but instead has hit the right note with songs such as the ever touching Daddy which speaks to incest and Below the Waist, about lovers making up after a fight. Ifrica says the other topics on her to-do list include 'the real story behind homosexuality' and other hard-hitting topics.
